Before y’all say, “I hate Texas for not electing Beto O’Rourke” please know these things:
1. Record numbers of Texan voters came out to the polls to vote because of Beto.
2. Because more Texan voters went to vote, more democratic votes were cast in other important areas.
3. Beto lost by the slimmest margin seen in Texas in 25 years meaning CHANGE IS COMING.
4. If you lived in Texas, you would know Beto was not expected to win and the fact that he got the large number of votes that he did is incredible.
Thank you Beto for all you’ve done to unite the people of Texas and across the country. Maybe this will get y’all to change y’alls minds about hating Texas.
BIG NEWS IN TEXAS!!!!! Over the 10-day early voting period 4 MILLION votes were cast! This is 84% of the total votes casted in the 2014 midterms!!! Oh, and Beto O’Rourke is now even with Ted Cruz in the polls so get out and VOTE BETO FOR U.S. SENATE ON TUESDAY!!!!!!!!
Particularly if you live in Texas, please vote, just for the schadenfreude. Can you even imagine if Texas goes blue. Can you even imagine Ted Cruz losing. I’m getting giddy just thinking about the conservative meltdown. There is literally zero path to the Presidency for Republicans that doesn’t include Texas. If they have to sweat bullets for the next forever thinking that Texas might be a left-leaning state… guys, this just sounds like a fun time.
Vote for Beto for the schadenfreude.
Beto is fucking BEHIND!!! Get out there and VOTE!!!
Last I checked, Beto is behind by like 4%. That is already huge for a Democrat in Texas by my understanding, and that is only polling “likely” voters, which literally never includes young people. If people our age turn up to vote, it would definitely swing the election massively towards Beto.
Texans, please do it. For me.
Even better: vote andsign up for volunteer shifts between now and election day, if you’re able. Door-to-door canvasing events are happening all over Texas.
Beto’s chances to win are hugely dependent on reaching people who don’t normally vote in midterm elections. Face-to-face interactions are the best way to do that.
Knocking on doors can feel intimidating, but volunteer coordinators will make sure you’re trained beforehand and give you a script that you’re asked to follow exactly while you’re out. Plus, the list of people you’re being asked to reach out to are people they already think are likely to vote for Beto…it’s a matter of making sure they actually turn out. You’re not getting a list of 30 staunchly Republican names.
And, at the end of the day, I’ve found the anxiety of talking to strangers to be much lower (and more productive!) than the anxiety of feeling helpless or the thought of facing another 6 years of Ted Cruz in office.
